2 early goals, one coming courtesy of a deft Bo Horvat deflection, the other on the Power Play from J.T. Miller & when the buzzer rang on the 1st Period a 2-0 lead was in the Canucks' back pocket.
By the mid way mark of the second period the score read 3-2 Leafs.
What happened, again, for the 6th time this young season? Well it was breakdowns, a lack of skating & back side coverage while also not burying their own chances.
Brock Boeser rang one off the post late in what would have been the tying goal, but instead they walked away with their 6th loss in 6 efforts when blowing a lead of 2 goals or more.
They have done this five times on the road, a potential 10 points that could be present, are instead a single overtime point. JPat laid it down in laymen's terms on his Twitter account.
The winning goal, well it came on a broken play & was none other than Victoria native Jordie Benn who had the winner. The side bar here is that J.T. Miller was just flat out bad on the play.
This team is in dire need of a wake up call.
Riley Stillman continues to hand over opportunities that result in scoring chances if not goals. It's troubling for any team, it's tragic for this team who can't seem to find an identity at any level who is a salary cap team. Surely we see Kyle Burroughs in BeanTown, if we don't then this coaching staff may have lost the plot.
Let's see what team shows up for periods one through three in Boston tomorrow. Your guess is as good as mine at this rate.
