The Vancouver Canucks have put themselves in a tough spot with their captain Bo Horvat. They chose to extend J.T. Miller this summer over Horvat, and the latter has paced himself to a career year and may be pricing himself out of Vancouver.
The Canucks' GM Patrik Allvin was on Sportsnet650 prior to the game and revealed crucial information concerning the ongoing talks.
"We believe we have a good offer into Bo. I spoke to his agent in my office before the Chicago game We'll see where it goes."
Yesterday, Allvin made the announcement that they had extended Andrei Kuzmenko to a 2-year $11M deal. Pretty much everyone thought the Canucks had played their last card. Though it appears that they aren't done yet, since while he was on the show he openly stated the Kuzmenko deal was preventing them from keeping Bo :
"I'm not gonna put us in a situation where we're not compliant."
It was rumoured that Horvat is asking for nothing less than Miller's contract, perhaps the Canucks have put a $7M AAV over 8 years on the table? Is that enough to retain his services?
