LATEST | Flames' top defenseman taken to the hospital after he was struck by a car
The Calgary Flames are in Detroit as of right now for their incoming matchup against the Red Wings. The worst news was brought upon them late last night.
As reported by many sources, the team's top defenseman was struck by a car while riding a scooter on his way to dinner.
"At approximately 6:00 p.m. ET, Wednesday, February 8 in Detroit, MI, while riding a scooter on his way to dinner, Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson was struck by a vehicle. Andersson was taken to a local hospital for a full battery of tests before being released last night." Per the team's following statement, "Andersson is doing well, and he will remain with the team. He is listed as day-to-day."
When you think about it, it's actually quite stupid for a guy making $4.5M to be riding a scooter, especially in the midst of a playoff race. The team will give an update soon on his timeline, but he is expected to miss a few games. Bad timing for the Flames.
