Teams are now gathered for the NHL combines, where most of the 100th or so best prospects are gathered for testing exercises. While on his show earlier today, Rick Dhaliwal gave interesting information when he gave up the three names the Canucks were desperately attempting to move.
It was reported last night that Brock Boeser was no-longer à part of the discussions in the salary dumps attempt. The Canucks are going to try and work it out with Rick Tocchet due to the improvement he's shown later in the campaign. Dhaliwal added that the echo coming from the Combines was mainly focused on, without a surprise, Tyler Myers, Conor Garland, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson:
Everybody is well aware that Myers and Garland are the first names involved in these types of talks. However, it's intriguing that OEL is in the middle since he has a full no-movement clause attached to his contract. Meaning he's not going anywhere unless he says so.
If the Canucks are talking about him, perhaps OEL has already given his approval for Allvin to shop his rights? Ekman-Larsson has a $7.25M AAV for 4 years still; if they even hope to move him, the Canucks will have to retain his salary. How much would you consider reasonable to retain in order to move him out of Vancouver?
