One name that's expected to hit the open market on July 1st is Toronto Maple Leafs forward and 2019 Stanley Cup Champion Ryan O'Reilly.
During the '32 Thoughts' podcast this week, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman was curious if the Vancouver Canucks could be a potential landing spot for Ryan O'Reilly when he becomes an unrestricted free agent on Canada Day.
O'Reilly, 32, is expected to receive a three-year deal on the open market this summer, but it's unclear what his salary could look like. The Clinton, Ontario was traded to the Maple Leafs in February in a three-team deal involving the Minnesota Wild.
His time with the Maple Leafs was fairly successful from an individual standpoint, putting up 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 13 regular season games and nine points (three goals, six assists) in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff contests.
O'Reilly has been known over the years as one of the best defensive centermen in the entire National Hockey League but he can also put the puck in the back of the net, recording seven 20+ goal seasons in his career thus far.
