The Canucks traded away their veteran defenceman Luke Schenn at this year's deadline. The beloved veteran is currently in the midst of another cup run in Toronto in preparation to meet the Panthers.

The ongoing thought was that the Canucks would pursue Luke Schenn once his contract expired on July 1st, not only was he loved in the locker room, but the team's management also held him in high esteem.

On Sekeres and Price earlier, they discussed whether or not, the Canucks should try and bring back the physical defenseman. Jeff Paterson shared his take on the subject and definitely won't be a crowd-pleaser:

'No, full stop right there. Been there and done that, they weren't good enough the first and second time around...this is about the #Canucks moving on from the past.''

Schenn we'll be 34 in November, per Paterson's thoughts the Canucks aren't in a phase where they need to add older guys.

From our perspective, we see things way differently. Schenn has been described as a culture-setting' kind of guy and the Canucks definitely need that. The Canucks are in the beginning stages of retooling so they obviously can't bring him in to play top minutes. In a diminished role as 3rd pairing guy behind Ethan Bear and Filip Hronek, his leadership abilities are way too good for the Canucks to pass on him.

It'll be interesting to see what Patrik Allvin does once we hit free agency, Schenn clearly loves Vancouver. This will certainly be a thing to watch moving forward.
