LATEST | Terrible news confirmed for the Blue Jackets and one of their top player
The Columbus Blue Jackets have had their fair share of injuries this season and another one is added on their board as we speak.
Just confirmed by the team via their Twitter account, Gustav Nyquist will be out for the remainder of the season.
"#CBJ forward Gus Nyquist, who was placed on Injured Reserve on Jan. 28, is expected to miss the rest of the regular season. He suffered a shoulder injury, which will not require surgery, at Edmonton, on Jan. 25."
The Blue Jackets have had to deal with extensive injuries on key players such as Jakub Voracek and Zach Werenski. Adding Nyquist to that surely hurts the team who has not been performing to the expectations they had set for themselves, when they inked Johnny Gaudreau to a massive deal over the summer.
It's a major loss for the Jackets since Nyquist was considered as one of the top trade bait for the incoming trade deadline. The 33-year-old forward carries a $5.5M AAV until the end of the season. He had managed 22 points through 48 games this year.
