Former Calder-nominee Alex Nedeljkovic is on waivers today and is therefore available freely to every team.
The netminder was formerly drafted by the Hurricanes with the 37th pick in 2014. He had a stellar breaking out year in 2020-21 where he was a finalist for the Calder Trophy.
The Hurricanes were in a tough spot and traded to Detroit in 2021. Last year, the goalie took part in 59 games posting a 20-24-9 record with a rebuilding Red Wings' lineup. He showed a .901 save percentage and a 3.31 goals against average.
This year's been a disastrous for the 27-year-old. The team acquired Ville Husso through a trade with St. Louis and subsequent signing this summer and he's taken over the starting position. In the games Nedeljkovic has started, his 4.09 goals against average stand amongst the league's worst so does his 0.880 save percentage.
He is signed to an extremely cheap $3M AAV until the end of the season, will a team take a chance on him? Should the Canucks take a chance on him?
