MAJOR: The line-up is completely remodeled and a veteran is expected to be scratched
The Canucks played great in the first 10 minutes of the road trip's second game in Pittsburgh but everything fell apart for the remaining 50 when the Pens completely took over and scored 5 back-to-back goals. More than ever, Bruce Boudreau's job will be on the line and he's presented major changes in his lines at practice this morning.
Everything is pointing toward Oliver Ekman-Larsson not suiting up for the game tonight. The veteran was horrible in the last game and some of the in-game decisions he made with and even without the puck were highly questionable.
Ekman-Larsson skated as the extra man on Burroughs' side, everything points toward Stillman gaining a shot in the line-up again while he skated on Ethan Bear's left. Luke Schenn had a reunion with Hughes and Dermott was ''promoted'' to Tyler Myers' left.
The forward group also had a completely different look. Everyone will be surprised to see Ilya Mikheyev on the 4th line with Pederson and Studnicka. Garland, Horvat, and Miller have reunited once again. The top line featured the excellent swede centerman Elias Pettersson who had Brock Boeser and Andrei Kuzmenko on his wings, it'll be extremely interesting to see what kind of chemistry these three can develop. Joshua, Lockwood, Dries, and Lazar were the last unit, one of them will inevitably sit this one out.
The head coach gave an after-practice interview previewing tonight's game and when he was asked about OEL being scratched he responded:
''That's potentially true. ..., I think he can be better, but I think there are a lot of guys that can be better now. It's about accountability, it's about a lot of things, .... He's arguably our best defenseman, but sometimes you have to do what you think is the best for the team. '
He also confirmed that Collin Delia will be getting the start once again, he stated that the goaltending situation is day-to-day. Is Bruce Boudreau playing his job right now? What do you think of these line changes?
