The New York Islanders were riding high ever since the trade last month that seen the Vancouver Canucks trade their captain Bo Horvat to the Islanders for Anthony Beauvillier, 22-year-old Aatu Raty and a first round pick.
Horvat has fit in nicely in New York with new linemate Mathew Barzal, but unfortunately the New York Islanders playoffs hopes might have just diminished after the news that the Islanders star forward is out indefinitely with an injury.
The 25-year-old was injured during Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Boston Bruins when Barzal took an awkward hit to his right leg. Barzal has 14 goals and 51 points this season. The news was revealed by TSN's hockey insider Pierre LeBrun.
The good news is the Islanders General Manager Lou Lamoriello has a couple weeks to find a replacement for Barzal. The bad news some of the players the Islanders have shown interest in, including Patrick Kane, has said no thanks to the Islanders.
