Not many people outside of Jim Rutherford believe a head coach change is going to be the catalyst this team needs. So here is a list of the Top 5 Canucks Most Likely To Be Traded:
1) BROCK BOESER
Games Played-10 Goals-0 Assists-8 Points-8
Brock Boeser has always been one of the premier snipers of the Vancouver Canucks. But this season he has had a troubling time finding the back of the net. As a veteran on the team he should be using his scoring prowess to turn the tide of games, but the chances are just not finishing in his favour this year.
Brock hasn't come close to scoring 30 goals in a full season since 2017-18. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needs while he still is a vital young trade piece of the Vancouver Canucks. He is still only 25 years old so his prime is just around the corner. Boeser carries a salary cap hit of 6.65 million dollars per year.
2) J.T. Miller
Games Played-16 Goals-9 Assists-6 Points-15
J.T. Miller is probably the most underrated player in the league. For a guy who was 1 point just shy of 100 points last season, he doesn't get much recognition compared to other high-calibre players. J.T. Miller has arguably been the best Canuck since Jim Benning acquired him via trade from the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2019 NHL draft. He has consistently found a way to score goals and make the players around him better.
He's earned his 8 million per year contract. The Canucks would be crazy to trade him but his value hasn't been higher in his career and if given an offer they can't refuse they will have to do what's best for the team.
3) Tanner Pearson
Games Played-14 Goals-1 Assists-4 Points-5
Tanner Pearson is in the second year of the 3-year contract he signed with an average of 3.25 million per season. Last year he had a no-trade clause but in the final two years of his contract the no-trade clause is removed. Pearson has had a knack for finding himself in the penalty box this year at the worst possible times and is starting to show signs of slowing down.
A reduced bottom-6 role is where he fits now and there may be some teams that see value in him on their penalty kill. But he has to stay out of the penalty box for that to happen.
4) Tyler Myers
Games Played-13 Goals-0 Assists-4 Points-4
Tyler Myers does not seem to be improving as a Vancouver Canuck. At 6'8 and 229 pounds you would think Myers would be our towering last line of defence that we could always rely on. He hasn't found his perfect place on the team as he doesn't seem to be a lethal threat offensively or an intimidating guardian for our goaltender.
He has one more year left after this season and has a cap hit of 6 million dollars. Myers is 32 years old now and it's looking like his contract has gotten bigger and heavier than the man himself.
5) Conor Garland
Games Played-15 Goals-3 Assists-5 Points-8
Conor Garland may not be the tallest player on the Canucks but most nights he plays with the biggest heart. The drive in Garland does not quit as he seems to have keep his motor running all game long at a high velocity. He's easily a core piece to any team and there may be a contender in the playoff race that would trade future picks for him.
Garland carries a modest 4.95 million per year contract for 4 more years. He is affordable for the right price.
