The Canucks have made it quite clear that they were going to try and free up some cap space. Boeser was signed until 2025 at an $6.65 AAV and he appears to be the main target for their cap relief. Here's the potential target.
He's a tough player, but he'll be a UFA at the end of the season. Moving for a player like him would imply that one of the Canucks' depth forward would take a bigger role, since Hornqvist has been underperforming for quite a while now.
$5.3M AAV until 2023.
The left winger has only put up eight points in 23 matchups since the season's started. The Islanders are looking to revamp their offense and it would make a lot of sense to try and move Boeser to match him with their superstar Mat Barzal. Islanders have a prospect pool worth discussing since they could be adding a sweetener along the way.
$5.0M AAV until 2024
The Bruins have been fire since the season started, winning nearly every game they've played. With their core aging they're certainly looking at another deep playoff run and expect them to try and get their team another scoring forward. Smith has underperforming and taking quite the money, he could considered as the Bruins' Tanner Pearson as he's been battling with injuries as well. The Bruins also have a great prospect pool with good defensemen.
$3.1M AAV until 2023
