On the Sekeres and Price podcast earlier this week a crazy suggestion was made to free up cap space.

Conor Garland has been ice-cold since the season's started. After a great first season with the Canucks where he put up 52 pts in 77 games last season. He's only had 10 in 22 so far, and only 2 in his last 10 games.

Garland carries a heavy $4.95M AAV until 2026, freeing up this much and a roster spot could help to resign Captain Bo and potentially give a steady top-9 spot for youngster Vasily Podkolzin.

The Blue Jackets made a similar trade over the summer where they traded RW Oliver Bjorkstrand to the Kraken for a 2023 - 3rd and 4th Picks. Bjorkstrand put up similar point last year (57 in 80) and carries a similar AAV ($5.4M) to Garland.
