With the NHL trade deadline coming up this Friday, the Vegas Golden Knights have a advantage over almost everyone else having major cap space with Mark Stone on long-term injured reserve.
They used some that money today making a trade with the St. Louis Blues. The Golden Knights acquired forward Ivan Barbashev from the St. Louis Blues for prospect Zach Dean.
The 27-year-old has ten goals, and 19 assists in 59 games with the Blues. Barbashev is a pending UFA this summer and is currently making $2,250,000.
The Blues get a nice pickup in Dean who was the 30th overall in 2021. Dean has 24 goals, and 27 assists, in 39 games with the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL.
