Last year, Fanatics announced their partnership with the NHL as the official jersey supplier, a decision that, much like with MLB, was met with skepticism. Fans have questioned why these jerseys, often feeling or looking like counterfeits, are so expensive despite their seemingly poor quality.
For Seattle Kraken forward Matty Beniers, it appears he might need an extra locker full of jerseys. His jersey tore at the seams just 10 minutes into ice time, almost like a Hulk Hogan shirt waiting to be ripped apart. Beniers was caught up in a situation, whether due to the wardrobe malfunction or his recent pay raise and at least he could afford a replacement.
What's puzzling is that Fanatics is now using the same factory that previously produced high-quality Adidas jerseys. So why the sudden dip in durability? One thing is clear: much like the MLB jersey controversy, if these players work up a sweat, they might be left with more than just torn fabric. Thankfully, no one's sweating Gatorade yet.
