Team Canada is about to play for their tournament life in the inaugural 4-Nations Face-Off Tournament against Team Finland, and fans are not happy about their choice in starting goaltender.
After a shaky performance against USA in the preliminary round on Saturday, many fans believed that Jordan Binnington would have been given the rope as
Adin Hill or Sam Montembeault would be given the opportunity.
But, confirmed by Canada head coach Jon Cooper this morning, St. Louis goalie Jordan Binnington will once again be the job to man the net.
Jordan Binnington will start for Canada against Finland, Jon Cooper announced. #4Nations
Fans were really expecting a different look in net as his stats have not been up to par with what an all world elite goalie should have.
Over his first 2 starts of the tournament, Binnington has a less than stellar .896 save percentage (S%) , which may be good for second in the tournament, but that is not saying much.
Not to mention that Team USA's
Connor Hellebuyck has an astounding (.957) save percentage.
Hopefully this is the right decision as this is a do or die game for both Canada and Finland for that matter, a loss today would book their ticket home.
