Former Korea Republic National Team Goaltender Hyun Ho Hwang Passes Away at 34.

As everyone continues to mourn the passing of Miika Elomo, a former first-round pick of the Washington Capitals, unfortunately, another member of the hockey community has sadly passed away.

According to Maeil Business Newspaper in South Korea, former national team goaltender Hyung Ho Hwang has sadly passed away at the age of 34 due to a heart attack.

Hwang spent his entire professional hockey career in South Korea's top division - Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH), where he suited up for Yonsei University, Anyang Halla (later became HL Anyang) and Sangmu, making over 100 appearances in parts of eight seasons, before retiring after the 2022-23 campaign.

On the international stage, Hwang represented Korea Republic on numerous occasions including the 2009 and 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship Division 2A tournaments, winning a bronze medal in his first appearance at the U20 level.

Hwang's last appearance for the Korea Republic came at the Final Qualifying Tournament for the 2022 Winter Olympics as he came in as a replacement for Matt Dalton against Denmark, allowing four goals including one to current Winnipeg Jet Nikolaj Ehlers.
