Spittin' Chiclets Host Paul Bissonnette Hospitalized After Being Attacked by 6 Men at Arizona Restaurant

Former National Hockey League enforcer Paul Bissonnette is recovering on Monday after being the victim of an attack by six men at a restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday night.

According to Fox 10 Phoenix, Paul Bissonnette was at a restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona around 7:30 pm local time when he overheard a group of men in an altercation with management of the establishment.

Bissonnette reportedly tried to intervene and calm things down between both parties and that's when things went south, with all six men attacking him both inside and outside the restaurant.

"There was an altercation inside the restaurant with six adult men and the management. Reportedly, Paul Bissonnette tried to help management calm the men and get them to leave. The situation escalated to the men assaulting Paul Bissonnette both inside and outside of the restaurant," Scottsdale Police Sgt. Allison Sempsis said.

Scottsdale Police told Fox 10 Phoenix that Paul Bissonnette was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and his injuries are thankfully not life-threatening.

"As for Bissonnette's injuries, Scottsdale Police wouldn't detail the severity, but say they're not believed to be life-threatening. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation." Fox 10 Phoenix said.

All six men were arrested by Scottsdale Police and are accused of assault along with disorderly conduct, with their identities not released.

Paul Bissonnette's NHL career

The 39-year-old Welland, Ontario native began his professional hockey career in 2005-06 as a member of the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

After working his way through the minor leagues, Bissonnette finally made his NHL debut in 2008-09 and went on to appear in 202 games across parts of six seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Phoenix Coyotes.

After retiring, Bissonnette turned his attention to the media side of hockey and is currently an analyst for NHL on TNT.

Everyone here at Canucks Daily is hoping that Paul Bissonnette is recovering well and hopes to see him back on the NHL on TNT panel as soon as he feels better.
