Six weeks after the shocking and tragic deaths of brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau emerged, the investigation into this crime is still ongoing and the authorities have new information.

NHL superstar Johnny Gaudreau, 31, and Matthew, 29, were both killed by a alleged drunk driver who struck them while they were riding their bikes home in their hometown of New Jersey. The pair were home to celebrate their sisters wedding that was scheduled for the day after, unfortunately, it never took place for obvious reasons.

Details on Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau revelaed

New Jersey State Police said 43-year-old Sean Higgins was the third car behind the brothers around 8 p.m. when he tried to pass the other two vehicles on the left.

One of the vehicles, an SUV closest to the brothers, started moving to the left to create room for the brothers. Police and New Jersey prosecutors have said Higgins accelerated around that SUV on the right, driving into the Gaudreau brothers, who both died at the scene.

At the scene of the crime, Sean Higgins, the drunk driver told authorities that he consumed "5 to 6 beers", but it is now confirmed that his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit of 0.08%, specifically it was at 0.087%.

Sean Higgins' wife reveals further details

Flynn, the wife of Sean Higgins revealed that he started drinking at home around 3:00pm, and got upset and aggressive by a phone call that took place. He went into his car, left his house and drove around in his Jeep Grand Cherokee during a two-hour phone conversation with a friend.

She further revealed that her husband is no stranger to reckless and aggressive driving.

Higgins, whose wife also told investigators he would frequently drive aggressively, had been tailgating the vehicle directly in front of him, dropping back and slowing down and then approaching again at a high rate of speed before passing on the left, Flynn said.

A judge has said that the confidential 911 call could be released to the public, but it seems very unlikely as the Gaudreau family want to keep those details private. Sean Higgins is set to appear in court in early November, he is facing two counts of vehicular homicide, as well as several traffic violations.
