The National Hockey League will enter new territory next season with the addition of Utah to the Central Division. Utah will replace the Arizona Coyotes, who are now inactive.

In recent days, Utah owner Ryan Smith has conducted several interviews with members of the media, and he said that his group doesn't want to rush into a team name or identity and wants to get it right. For the first season, Utah may have the state's name on the front of their home and away uniforms, but within the last couple of days, some trademarked names for the franchise have been revealed.

According to Greg Wyshynski of ESPN, five names were trademarked with the US Patent and Trademark Office: Blizzard, Venom, Fury, HC, and Hockey Club.

"On Tuesday, applications were filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office for trademarks on the following names:

Utah Blizzard
Utah Venom
Utah Fury
Utah HC
Utah Hockey Club"

Then, on Friday, two more names, including the Yetis and Outlaws, entered the US Patent and Trademark Office, according to Ryan Miller of KSL.com.

"An application was filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday for a trademark on the team name 'Utah Yetis.'

It came from the same group that filed applications for the Utah Blizzard, Utah Fury, Utah Hockey Club, Utah HC and Utah Venom." Miller said.

He added, "The same group applied Friday for a trademark on the team, Utah Outlaws."

It'll be interesting to see which direction the Utah franchise takes in terms of its identity. Names like Yetis and Outlaws are surely to win fans over if they get a final say in the team's name.
