LATEST | Trade between the Canucks and the Flames: Deal finalized the conditions have been revealed
Patrik Allvin had a huge day on Wednesday, signing a multi-year contract to remain General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks and also made a blockbuster trade with the Calgary Flames.
In the trade, the Canucks finally got the top-six forward they've been looking for, adding Elias Lindholm, while dealing away Andrei Kuzmenko, prospects Hunter Brzustewicz and Joni Jurmo, along with a 2024 first-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick.
On Thursday, thanks to CapFriendly, we found out what the conditions are on the 2024 fourth-round pick. According to CapFriendly, if the Vancouver Canucks reach the Western Conference Final, the Flames will receive a third-round pick instead of a fourth. However, if that doesn't happen, then the Flames will get the better of Vancouver's two fourth-round picks, one of which was previously owned by the New Jersey Devils.
"Conditions for the 4th round pick:
1. The 4th RD pick becomes a 3rd RD pick if #Canucks make it to the conference final.
2. If the pick remains a 4th, #Flames will receive the better of the two picks that Vancouver currently owns (VAN & NJD)"
It's an exciting time in Vancouver and the fan base is happy to see that due to their success this season, they're going all-in and will hopefully make a deep playoff run that will result in the franchise's first Stanley Cup.
Lindholm is currently in Toronto with his new teammates and head coach as they get ready for the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend. The 29-year-old is expected to make his Vancouver Canucks debut on February 6th against one of his former teams, the Carolina Hurricanes.
