REPORT | Rangers working a massive deal with the Jets: Mark Scheifele headed to the Big Apple?
Mark Scheifele's name has been circulating in trade rumours ever since their season ended early. The centerman is in the midst of his prime, and just like his teammate Connor Hellebuyck, he's avid for playoffs and meaningful hockey games.
In an era when the players have huge control over the narrative, the star centerman Mark Scheifele may be about to leave Winnipeg. Both the Rangers and Jets could use a major shake-up in their respective lineups, and here's the deal that's been circulating:
TO WINNIPEG
- Filip Chytil
- Braden Schneider
TO NEW YORK
- Mark Scheifele
- Ville Heinola
Coming off a 68 points (42 goals) season, Scheifele has made a name for himself for his offensive productivity, counting six consecutive seasons in which he registered over a point per game. Chytil and Schneider are two young up-and-coming players who have cumulated valuable NHL experience; They'd certainly change the tempo in Winnipeg.
The Jets' season debut will be determinant in drawing their future; perhaps if they're off to a strong start, the team's management could consider giving it another shot. If not, they surely have high-end assets that could be sold for a hefty price.
