The National Hockey League's trade deadline for the 2024-25 campaign is just 44 days away and from a depth perspective, it looks like the San Jose Sharks are trying to get ahead of the curve and add to their prospect pool.
Justin Bailey, who spent parts of three seasons in the Vancouver Canucks organization, has been traded by the San Jose Sharks today, according to TSN's Chris Johnston.
Johnston said that Justin Bailey will be remaining in the state of California as he's been dealt to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for 2022 Olympic bronze medalist Pavol Regenda.
Bailey, 29, joined the San Jose Sharks organization in the fall of 2023 and after spending the majority of last season in the NHL, the Buffalo, New York native has been with their AHL affiliate for all of 2024-25.
In 33 games for the AHL's San Jose Barracuda, Bailey has put up 14 points (seven goals, seven assists), 26 penalty minutes and is a minus-six.
The Ducks confirmed in a post on their official team website that Bailey will be joining their American Hockey League affiliate, the San Diego Gulls.
As for Pavol Regenda, he joined the Anaheim Ducks as a free agent out of Europe in the summer of 2022 after a strong season for Slovak club Michalovce Dukla HC as well as at the Winter Olympics, where he helped Slovakia to a bronze medal, and at the IIHF World Hockey Championship.
In 36 games for the San Diego Gulls this season, the 25-year-old has 16 points (four goals, 12 assists), 36 penalty minutes and is a minus-15.
