Goaltenders have been extensively discussed in recent trade speculations. Jacob Markstrom was the first piece to move, and now another blockbuster goaltending move has occurred.

The Ottawa Senators paid a hefty price to acquire the services of Linus Ullmark, last year's Vezina Trophy Winner. Ullmark had been involved in many trade talks since Jeremy Swayman stepped up as the clear-cut number-one netminder in Boston.

For the Senators, it was a deal waiting to happen. The franchise had been looking for a netminder for quite some time. They inked Jonas Korpisalo via free agency last summer, hoping that he could be the team's top goalie, but after one season, they gave up on him:

TRADE ALERT: The #Sens have acquired G Linus Ullmark from @NHLBruins in exchange for (Boston's original) '24 first-round draft pick (no. 25 overall), C Mark Kastelic and G Joonas Korpisalo. As part of the transaction, the #Sens will retain 25% of Korpisalo's remaining salary.

We'll have to see who has the upper hand in this deal next season. Ullmark is one year away from free agency. The Swede had to waive his no-movement clause for a trade to happen; he's clearly confident that better days are ahead in Ottawa.
