Trade Alert: Chris Tanev traded by the Dallas Stars
We're days ahead of free agency, and teams have begun trading signing rights.
One of the highest target on the Canucks' free agency board, Chris Tanev, has been moved from the Stars to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the end of the 2024 NHL Amateur Draft:
The Dallas Stars have traded Chris Tanev's rights to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Maple Leafs traded Max Ellis along with a 2026 7th Round Pick to acquire the former Canucks' rights:
#Leafs acquire the rights to Chris Tanev from #TexasHockey in exchange for Max Ellis and 2026 7th Rd Pick.
Tanev is coming home.
The likeliness of Tanev inking a deal with the Leafs just increased, but at this point there still isn't a guarantee that he won't be hitting the market as a free agent on Monday July 1st:
Chris Tanev's agent Wade Arnott says there is no agreement at the moment with the Leafs. They haven't spoken yet. Toronto just acquired his rights so obviously Arnott expects to hear soon from the Leafs.
