Colorado Avalanche to receive massive boost early in 2024-25 season
The Colorado Avalanche are set to receive a massive boost to their lineup early on in the 2024-25 season.
Over the last two seasons, the Colorado Avalanche haven't performed as expected in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, suffering a first round exit in 2023 and second round exit this year.
With the 2024-25 campaign right around the corner, the Colorado Avalanche are gearing up to take a run at their fourth consecutive 50+ win season and will do so with someone they've missed over the last two years.
In a recent interview, Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar shared that the team is expecting to have captain
Gabriel Landeskog return to the lineup at some point early on in the 2024-25 season.
Landeskog, 31, has missed the last two seasons due to a knee injury and it was unclear if he was going to return to professional hockey, but he was determined to prove everyone wrong and show that his career was not going to end this early. He had three different knee surgeries over the course of the last two years and began skating again last season.
"He's trying to make a return here sometime near the start of the season and if that goes well, it would be a really big boost for us," Bednar said. "So, that's something we're all a little anxious about, but really excited about as well. He hasn't played for us in two years."
The Stockholm native will be a big addition to the Avalanche's lineup next season and it'll be interesting to see if he'll be eased back in or slots right back into the top-six. Landeskog was solid for the Avalanche during the 2022 Stanley Cup run, putting up 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 20 games, helping the organization win their third title.
