MAJOR | Top Draft pick makes an important change: Trade Request coming?
Kent Johnson was drafted 5th overall in the 2021 NHL entry draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Johnson is a very talented player and has an ability to make big plays in big moments.
The 21-year-old began the 2023-2024 season on the bench for the 2 of the first 9 games of the year despite scoring 40 points in 79 games last season. This was a bit shocking and it may have caused an issue for Johnson.
Johnson switched agents and is now respresented by Patrick Brisson of the CAA. Many players switch to Brisson to move on from their team such as Pierre-Luc Dubois and Seth Jones.
This could be a very interesting situation as Kent Johnson is a very promising player and could garner a lot of interest from NHL teams.
For now, Johnson will continue to play for Columbus, he currently has 3 points in 7 games and is averaging 13:24 seconds of TOI.
