LATEST | Insider reveals the most active team on the market yet since: Allvin working the phone lines?
The Vancouver Canucks have had the best nine-game start to a season in 18 years as they sit at 6-2-1, good enough for second place in the Pacific Division.
Vancouver's strong start has many around the hockey world talking and while it's still very early, if the team is able to sustain this level of play throughout the next few months, they'll certainly set themselves up well to compete for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, potentially as a top-three team in the division.
In his most recent '32 Thoughts' article, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Vancouver Canucks are the most active team behind the scenes and that the team wants to make a deal and add pieces, but don't want to add in sweeteners to make it work. Unfortunately for the Canucks, their cap situation makes it tough to add anything of significance, but Friedman says that the team could look to make a 'hockey move' to try and create cap space.
"Most active team behind the scenes: Vancouver. The Canucks like what they've seen so far. Their best players look great. They want to add, and don't want to toss in sweeteners to do it. A hockey move with the hope to create cap room. When others are ready, they'll be waiting"
For fans of the Vancouver Canucks, this is great news that the team is looking to make additions and push for a playoff spot this season, as well as remaining competitive for years to come. They have all of the pieces in place to make a push towards a playoff spot, but adding another impact piece or two will put them over the top and will help the team significantly.
The Canucks will look to continue their winning ways tonight as they take a quick trip to Northern California to take on the San Jose Sharks, before returning home on Saturday night to face the Dallas Stars.
