LATEST | Leon Draisaitl cheapshots former Canucks captain Bo Horvat
The Edmonton Oilers took on the New York Islanders on Monday night and it was a fresh start for the Alberta club under a new Head Coach, Kris Knoblauch.
The game didn't start the way Edmonton had hoped, as Islanders forward Mat Barzal opened the scoring 40 seconds into the first period.
But after Barzal's goal, the Oilers turned things up a notch and scored four unanswered goals to get the win by a score of 4-1.
During the second period however, Oilers forward
Leon Draisaitl delivered a dangerous crosscheck to the back of the the legs of former Canucks captain
Bo Horvat.
Draisaitl ended up receiving a two-minute minor for cross-checking on the play, but he's pretty lucky he didn't get anything more. It'll be interesting to see if the NHL's Department of Player Safety sees enough from that incident to hand Draisaitl at least a fine.
UDPATE: He was received a $5K fine.
