NHL makes decision on Derek Ryan's 'cup check' on Nils Hoglander
The Vancouver Canucks and their fans aren't going to be happy with the National Hockey League with the news that's come down on Saturday afternoon for an incident that happened last night.
Early in the second period, Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander shoved Edmonton Oilers forward Derek Ryan. Ryan, who wasn't happy with Hoglander, then speared the Swede in the groin.
The Oilers forward was handed a two-minute minor for slashing, while Nils Hoglander was given a two-minute minor for interference, the latter of which came a shock to many.

Fans were hoping that Derek Ryan would have been fined or suspended by the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety, but it doesn't look like it will happen.
According to Irfaan Gaffar, the National Hockey League has decided that they won't be issuing any supplemental discipline to Edmonton Oilers forward Derek Ryan for the spear on Friday night.
"There won't be any supplemental discipline for Edmonton's Derek Ryan for his penalty on Vancouver's Nils Höglander." Gaffar said.
It's a bit surprising that there wasn't at least a fine for Derek Ryan for his spear, given that it's a dangerous and quite frankly, a gutless move and it's safe to say that the Canucks won't forget this heading into Game 3 on Sunday night.
