SIGNING ALERT | Free agent defenceman Cal Foote signs a new deal
Rumours circulated earlier this summer that the Vancouver Canucks may bring in unrestricted free agent defenceman Cal Foote and reunite him with his dad, Adam, who's on the team's coaching staff.
Well, those rumours can be put to rest now as Foote has found a new home for the 2023-24 season.
According to reports, Foote has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with the New Jersey Devils. Foote's contract is worth $800,000 at the NHL and comes with a $450,000 AHL guarantee.
The Denver native split the 2022-23 season between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators, the latter of whom acquired him in the Tanner Jeannot deal.
In 50 games between the Lightning and Predators last season, Foote had seven points (two goals, five assists), 63 penalty minutes and was a plus-six.
