MAJOR | The REAL reason why six teams passed on Michkov revealed
Matvei Michkov headlined tons of articles days prior to the NHL's amateur draft. Just a year ago he was seen as the best prospect not named Connor Bedard and the best Russian to come into the draft since Alexander Ovechkin.
His contractual situation in the KHL raised lots of concern and up until now it seemed to be the explanation to why his draft stock fell dramatically as he ended up going all the way down to 7th to the Flyer.
Spittin Chiclets, a Podcast mainly headlining Ray Withney and Paul Bissonette revealed the true reason as to why he fell down so much. It appears that the SKA (The team he liens up for in the KHL) would have revealed Michkov's true character:
'The boys on @spittinchiclets, revealed SKA coaches called him a «piece of shit» who does what he wants, berates staff and abuses teammates! ''
With everything that's been going on in the KHL, the suspicious passing of his father, this needs to be taken with a grain of salt since he could've been a strategy to keep Michkov in Russia.
At the end of the day, it appears that 5 coaches took the SKA coaches words since the Ducks, the Blue Jackets, the Sharks, the Canadiens and the Coyotes all passed on him.
Now, just like every draft, only time will tell who was right in the end.
