LATEST | Canucks make an important announcement regarding pride night disobeying NHL regulations
Get ready Canucks fans, the team has announced details for their upcoming Pride Night which is set for Thursday, January 18th against the Arizona Coyotes.
While they won't be worn on the ice due to the NHL's warm-up jersey ban, the Canucks will have uniforms available for sale in the team store, along with other Pride apparel such as t-shirts and hoodies.
"Celebrating diversity and inclusion with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is a very important cause to our entire organization," said Michael Doyle, President, Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Business Operations. "We are excited about the activities planned that allow us to show our support and raise awareness and understanding in our community. Hockey is for everyone, and we look forward to coming together and celebrating these important values with our fans."
Prior to puck drop, the Canucks will hold an outdoor Pride party featuring a beer garden and a light up 'Happy Pride' sign that fans will be able to take pictures with.
During the game, there will be Pride LEDs and projections with DJs and a singer performing during the intermissions. The Canucks will also be making a $20,000 donation to QMUNITY, which is a non-profit organization that helps members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Puck drop for the Canucks' Pride Night game, which is also their first game back from their current road trip, is set for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET on Sportsnet Pacific.
