The Canucks made a few important roster moves today as GM, Patrik Allvin, works toward finalizing their roster. Christian Wolanin and Jack Studnicka were placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Abbotsford Canucks. The Canucks called up talented young defenseman, Akito Hirose.

Christian Wolanin is a 28-year-old defenseman who has mostly been a depth NHL player. He has never played more than 30 NHL games and has mostly played in the AHL. He will be a key part of the Abbotsford Canucks.

Jack Studnicka is 24-year-old forward who was acquired in a trade from Boston. The Windsor native, played 47 games with the Canucks, recording 8 points. Studnicka will look to have a successful start to his season similar to his 2021-22 season with the Providence Bruins where he scored 35 points in 41 games.

Akito Hirose is a 24-year-old undrafted defenseman. The strong puck-mover played three years on the Minnesota state University, Makato. He would record 7 goals and 61 assists in 104 games. Hirose got a chance to play for the Canucks where he scored 3 points in 7 games.

The Canucks will look for Hirose to use his skill this season. Allvin still has some work to do as he is still looking for the right-handed defenseman to pair with Quinn Hughes.
