Defensive prospect Jackson Dorrington was in the lineup for Northeastern University when they took on Stonehill College on Saturday night, and it was a milestone night for him.
Just under seven minutes into the first period, Dorrington had the puck at the blue line of Stonehill College's zone when he decided to walk in, fake out one of the opposing players and rip it into the net. This was Dorrington's first NCAA goal after not putting up any in his first season with Northeastern University in 2022-23.
The 6'2" defenceman was selected in the sixth round (176th overall) by the Canucks in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Dorrington skates well and is very poised and calm on the ice. There's no doubt that if he can continue playing like he did on Saturday, he could get a call from USA Hockey for their pre-World Junior camp.
Dorrington and Northeastern University will return on Sunday to take on the reigning National Champions, Quinnipiac.
