LATEST | Canucks assistant General Manager leaving for the Leafs: The motivations to his departure revealed
It caused quite the mediatic stir when it was announcement that one of the Canucks' assistant general manager had left his functions to join the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Canucks' president Jim Rutherford issued a statement confirming that Clancy was leaving the organization after joining a little over a year ago. It appears that Clancy's existing relationship with Brad Treliving was stronger then the one with the former Penguins' from office.
However, during an interview, the commentator John Shannon revealed the true motivation behind Clancey's move:
"It surprised a lot of people...I can guarantee you that Derek Clancey is making more in Toronto than he did in Vancouver."
Perhaps the fact that the Canucks have a load of assistant GM drove him away, but Shannon guarantees that money played an important factor in this move.
At this point, the Canucks have already announced they weren't going to replace him. Big loss for the team?
