LATEST | Canucks owner issues a statement regarding Roberto Luongo's legacy
Tonight the Canucks will celebrate Roberto Luongo's Ring of Honour Night, recognizing the near decade of elite hockey the netminder played for the team.
On Thursday, Canucks' owner Francesco Aquilini extended his congratulations to Luongo, saying he's one of the greatest goalies in Vancouver history:
''Celebrating Lu as one of the greatest goalies in Canucks franchise history and as an amazing community ambassador. Congratulations!''
Luongo was an all-star in his first three seasons in Vancouver and among the league's best goalies for his entire tenure with the team.
He won an Olympic gold medal with Team Canada in Vancouver in 2010 and again in Sochi in 2014.
Luongo officially retired after the 2018-19 season, boasting a career .919 save percentage.
