While the 2023-24 season has gone as well as anyone could have hoped for the Vancouver Canucks, the first half hasn't gone as planned for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

With one of their top forwards in Jake Guentzel on an expiring contract, rumours that the two time 40-goal scorer could be available have been swirling.

Insiders including Frank Seravalli and Rick Dhaliwal have discussed the suggestion of Guentzel to Vancouver, and one fan says the Canucks should look to build a package around Andrei Kuzmenko.

Guentzel is a proven playoff performer and would provide an upgrade in the top six on Kuzmenko, who has struggled throughout the season and been healthy scratched on multiple occasions.

The Russian winger had 74 points last season however, so his potential to bounce back coupled with the addition of Podkolzin and a 1st rounder could be a huge price to pay for what could ultimately be a rental.
