During an appearance on Halford & Brough on Friday, Rick Dhaliwal shared a positive update regarding Jim Rutherford and his future in Vancouver beyond the 2023-24 season.

Dhaliwal said that Jim Rutherford is very happy with how the Canucks have started the 2023-24 season and he believes that the President of Hockey Operations WILL sign an extension with the team at some point going forward.

"This start has got Rutherford pretty energized. I have no evidence to suggest that he won't sign an extension in Vancouver." Dhaliwal said on Halford & Brough on Friday.

Rutherford, 74, took on the role as the Canucks' President of Hockey Operations nearly two years ago, on December 9th, 2021, and has had plenty of ups and downs in his short tenure with the organization including in a press conference back in January where he said that the team needs 'major surgery'.

With the way the team is playing now, starting the season with a 10-2-1 record, Rutherford believes that the organization is heading in the right direction, especially if he's willing to sign an extension, as Rick Dhaliwal suggests.
