LATEST | Former Canucks defenceman signs new contract with Canadian team
Former Vancouver Canucks defenceman Travis Hamonic has signed a new contract to remain with the Ottawa Senators, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Friedman said that Hamonic has signed a two-year contract worth $2.2 million ($1.1 million AAV) with the Senators, which includes a no-movement clause.
"Not sure what's out there, but Travis Hamonic 2x$1.1M in Ottawa. NMC included." Friedman said.
Hamonic, 32, joined the Canucks ahead of the 2020-21 season on a professional tryout contract for training camp which he turned into a one-year deal. He then re-signed with the Canucks for the 2021-22 season, before being traded to the Ottawa Senators in March 2022 for a third-round pick that year. That draft pick the Canucks received in the trade was used to select defensive prospect Elias Pettersson.
In 62 games for the Canucks across two seasons, the St. Malo, Manitoba native had 17 points (six goals, 11 assists), 45 penalty minutes and was a minus-two.
