Rick Dhaliwal says, "...I was told that Pastrnak is a comparable the Canucks are using."
David Pastrnak is an interesting comparison. Pastrnak came off a monster 61-goal and 113-point year, which netted him an 8-year, 90 million dollar deal with a cap hit at 11.25 million dollars in the last off-season.
Pettersson scored 39 goals and 102 points last season. While both players play differently, as Pastrnak is a pure sniper, while Pettersson is a two-way player with tremendous playmaking ability, they are similar in value, making the comparison possible.
It looks as though the Canucks are looking to sign Pettersson to a long-term deal. It will be interesting to see how the Canucks handle the salary and if they use any contracts, such as Pastrnak and Panarin, as a possible guide.
