The Vancouver Canucks hired Adam Foote as assistant coach in mid-January last season. The former NHL defenseman has been a welcome addition as his 20 years of NHL experience has helped build a foundation with the players and head coach Rick Tocchet.

Foote was a defensive defender known for his physicality and grit. The Toronto native played in 1154 games in his career, racking up 308 points, 1534 PIMS and a +99 career plus/minus rating.

Foote has significantly helped with the penalty kill. Canucks assistant captain, J.T Miller, has praised Foote for his tough coaching.

Miller said, "He doesn't baby me...too often you have to message players to ensure their feelings aren't hurt...I know what he's doing. I know what he's saying. I respect that... I love feedback as a player."

The Canucks ranked last place on the penalty kill at 71.6% in the 2022-2023 season. Adam Foote may contribute to a better penalty-killing season in 2023-2024.
