Vancouver Canucks forward Pius Suter is currently stepping up in a disappointing season, having a career year that you can be assured will demand a significant pay raise in the offseason, but general manager Patrik Allvin may not want to award him what he deserves.
There has not been a lot to smile about during this 2024-2025 injury riddled and lack of production Vancouver Canucks season, but one player that has been a bright light in a dark year has been centerman Pius Suter.
Is Pius Suter going to return to the Vancouver Canucks?
With Injuries to
Elias Pettersson,
J.T. Miller getting traded away and speculation that
Brock Boeser will test the free agent market this offseason, Pius Suter has a lot of leverage when it comes to demanding a solid number for his next contract.
Even more so that he is has been one of the only bright spots in the lineup while having a career year, scoring 22 goals and 20 assists for for 42 points in 75 games.
"The solution for centre might be the guy who is already there. The Canucks didn't like Suter's number at the deadline but they might have to look at those numbers again. I am curious to see what happens there." Friedman said according to Rick Dhaliwal.
It is hard in today's NHL to have homegrown talent or players that are able to navigate themselves from the bottom-6 to a bigger role when their are opportunities available for whatever reason.
They do not have a lot of options right now, and you can can't by any means let Suter walk for nothing.
Allvin needs to go back and look over those numbers again because in the last 3 weeks, he has been by far the Canucks best forward, scoring 13 points in 11 games during the current injury crisis down the middle.
