LATEST | KHL makes a statement regarding former Canuck Nikolay Goldobin
The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) announced on Wednesday morning that for the second consecutive time, former Vancouver Canucks forward Nikolay Goldobin had been named 'Forward of the Month.'
During October, Goldobin had 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 12 games, which included a hat trick and 29 shots on goal.
"Back-to-back KHL Forward of the Month Nikolai Goldobin scores 1.5 Pts/GP and is currently on pace for the league's record-breaking 100 points in the 68-game regular season."
In 25 games this season for Spartak Moscow, Goldobin has 39 points (20 goals, 19 assists), 21 penalty minutes and is a plus-five. As the KHL mentioned in their post, Godobin is on pace to smash the league's single-season point record, which is currently held by Sergei Mozyakin, who had 85 during the 2016-17 season.
This past summer, there was plenty of talk that Goldobin was looking to return to North America and sign a contract in the National Hockey League. However, with no offers, he stayed in Russia and signed a two-year deal with Spartak Moscow. He'll be able to return to the NHL ahead of the 2025-26 season, and if he continues to play this well for the rest of his KHL contract, there will be plenty of interest from teams on this side of the Atlantic.
