LATEST | Patrik Allvin makes an announcement regarding Elias Pettersson: Interesting development for the Swede
Only the future will tell, but by now, Elias Pettersson (D-Pettey) looks like a steal. The 2022 3rd Round Draft Selection impresses everytime he gets to a bigger stage and he's done just that at the most recent World Juniors.
ANOTHER ELIAS PETTERSSON JOINING THE CANUCKS SOON?
Once he was inked to his entry level deal, the initial plan was that Pettersson would joined the Abbotsford Canucks for the 2024-2025 campaign. However, Allvin revealed that his recent performance had his stock rising and that the plan would be moving along faster. In a recent interview, he revealed that D-Pettey would be coming to North America as soon as his season in Sweden would come to an end:
I spoke with Canucks GM Patrik Allvin about Elias Pettersson (D-Petey).
"The next step for Elias is to come over to North America. The plan is to come over for next year, but whenever they're done, we'll bring him in and start working with Elias right away."
"I hope he will get into some games with Abbotsford. He is capable and he's ready for that. I think he's excited about playing for Abbotsford too "
Known to be a minute eater, the young Swede has every skill needed in his arsenal to become a talented shut down defenceman. He showed at the World Juniors that even against the very best players, his game didn't change.
The Canucks picked him with the 80th selection of the 2022 Draft.
