Casey DeSmith has been everything the Canucks could ask for out of a backup goalie this season, with a 7-3-2 record and .916 save percentage.

DeSmith has proven he's a quality backup goalie, but he's had to battle at every level of hockey he's played to get a shot.

Former teammate -and former Canuck- Frankie Corrado spoke to Sekeres and Price about DeSmith, saying he's consistently made the most out of his opportunities to work his way up from 3rd string in the ECHL to a bonafide NHL goalie.

Corrado said DeSmith is and always will be a battler.

Behind Casey DeSmith... there's always going to be that battler... he's a battle-tested kind of guy,

Corrado and DeSmith played together in Wilkes-Barre in 2016-17 and 2017-18, the following season DeSmith backed up Matt Murray on the Penguins.

The 32 year old has never had a professional season with a below .900 save percentage.
