LATEST | Positive update regarding Carson Soucy & Ilya Mikheyev
The Vancouver Canucks took to the ice on Monday at Wells Fargo Center in preparation for Tuesday night's game against Philadelphia Flyers, and there was some good news about who was at practice.
According to Thomas Drance of The Athletic, defenceman Carson Soucy and forward Ilya Mikheyev were total participants in practice, wearing regular sweaters, likely signalling they are close to returning to the lineup.
"Soucy and Mikheyev are on the ice wearing full contact practice sweaters at #Canucks practice on Monday in Philadelphia. Blueger and Brisebois are absent as practice begins." Drance said.
Drance also shared what the line combinations looked like at Monday's practice. Carson Soucy was skating on the third pair with Noah Juulsen, while Ilya Mikheyev was rotating on the fourth line, but it doesn't appear that he'll be playing tomorrow night.
"Kuzmenko-Pettersson-Garland
PDG-Miller-Boeser
Joshua-Suter-Beauvillier
Höglander-Lafferty-Studnicka
Hughes-Hronek
Cole-Myers
Soucy-Juulsen
Extras: Mikheyev, Hirose"
Soucy has yet to make his Vancouver Canucks debut after suffering a lower-body injury in the team's preseason finale against the Calgary Flames. Initially, he was expected to be out week-to-week, but late last week, Rick Tocchet said he's more 'day-to-day.'
As for Ilya Mikheyev, he hasn't played since last season on January 23rd against the Seattle Kraken. He suffered an ACL injury during preseason in 2022 but played through it until January when the team shut him down and underwent surgery in early February.
A note for Canucks fans, puck drop for Tuesday night's game against the Flyers is now at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET, as it was moved one hour ahead by the NHL on Friday.
