Patrik Allvin has been giving a master class on how to close deals and improve his team since the season started. The latest moves he pulled shines the light on some of the moves that were pulled little under a year and shows how could he's been at finding deals.

ALLVIN COMING UP HUGE ON THE MARKET

Obviously, the Canucks acquired Sam Lafferty for a 5th Rounder as the season was about to start and with a quarter of the season under wraps, it's clearly a steal. Allvin made no mistake and took advantage of the Leafs who were desperate to gain some cap space.

He then acquired the tall two-way defenceman Nikita Zadorov from the Flames for a 3rd Rounder along with a 5th.

Which brings up a comparison to a trade the Maple Leafs did just a little under a year ago as they were trying to bolster up their line up before entering a playoff run. They struck a deal with the Blackhawks where they acquired Sam Lafferty and Jake McCabe. Here's what it looked like:

TO TORONTO

- Jake McCabe
- Sam Lafferty
- 5th Round Pick
- 5th Round Pick

TO CHICAGO

- Joey Anderson
- Pavel Gogolev
- 1st Round Pick
- 2nd Round Pick

Looking back, the Leafs were after a bottom-6 forward and a two-way hard hitting Defenseman. Is it fair to say Allvin acquired Lafferty and a very similar Defenseman to a much lesser price?
