According to The Province, the Vancouver Canucks are looking to purchase the Chilliwack Chiefs, who play in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).

"The Vancouver Canucks are closing in on a deal to buy the BCHL's Chilliwack Chiefs, according to a source close to the negotiations." The Province said.

A source told The Province that the Canucks have been in discussions with the Chiefs since April of this year and have even made a presentation to the BCHL's Board of Governors.

The Chilliwack Chiefs were founded in 1975 and were originally known as the Quesnel Millionaires. The Millionaires were then purchased by a group in Chilliwack who moved the franchise to the city in 2011, naming them the Chiefs. In 2018, the Chiefs host the Canadian Junior A National Championship, which is now called the Centennial Cup, and defeated the OJHL's Wellington Dukes.
