MAJOR | Former Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau linked to a coveted coaching job
While it won't be behind an NHL bench, Bruce Boudreau's return to coaching could be soon.
Sportsnet's Jeff Marek reports that Boudreau "is in the mix" for Canada's head coaching position at the upcoming Spengler Cup.
The Spengler Cup sees some of the top Canadian players from European leagues teaming up against professional European teams.
The management group includes Calgary Flames Assistant GM Brad Pascall and Joe Thornton, but coaches and players have yet to be announced.
Boudreau's name is the only one that has surfaced in rumours for the head coaching job so far, and with the tournament slated to begin on Boxing Day, an official selection announcement will likely come soon.
